The trek uphill requires a trekker to cross seven tiny hills before reaching the Chembra peak. Total trekking distance is 9 km and it takes a maximum of three hours for even a leisurely paced trekker to reach the peak. Overnight camping options are possible, around the lake. Pakshipathalam: Another prominent and tempting trekking is offered by Pakshipathalam near Thirunelli Temple in Wayanad. Pakshipathalam is located at a height of 1,740 meters above sea level and offers a challenging location for adventurous trekking in Wayanad. With an exigent distance of 16 km, Pakshipathalam trek takes you through wild forests, deep caves and thick rock blocks. With spectacularly beautiful surroundings, the trek offers great opportunities for photography. With vertical slopes, knee high weeds and rocks blocking the path, Banasura hill presents a very tough trekking experience of about 12 km. But at the end, the hill rewards the daring with an amazing view of Banasura Water Reservoir and the misty peaks of the surrounding hills. A 9 km trek to the top of the Brahmagiri peak is another thrilling experience with picturesque view of the entire landscape around the Brahmagiri hill. The hill presents a gripping view of the surroundings from its slopes even. The slope can get quite steep towards the peak, but the vista that awaits you at the summit will clear off all the tiredness of a laborious journey. The grassy slopes of the nearby mountains, the clouds touching your feet and the beautiful sky that bow down into the horizon, will make you feel on top of the world, literally! Kattu Kunnu and Saipu Kunnu : Kattu Kunnu (means Windy Hill) bestows a spectacular view of Banasura Sagar Dam and Kakkayam Dam. Most part of South Part of Wayanad is visible from the hill. Always wind will be blowing from all sides, which is the speciality of this mountain. Saipu Kunnu is further 2 km from Kattu Kunnu, another amazing view point.
