Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary visit is a “must do” experiences on a trip to Wayanad. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary consists of two major Wildlife Sanctuaries. The Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is located near to the Kerala-Karnataka Border on Mysore Road. Muthanga is connected with Mudumalai Wild life Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu and Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka. Wild animals including mighty Elephants and Bisons, uncontrollable Blue Bulls, dangerous Tigers and unpredictable Leopards, various species of Deer and Monkeys, are seen here. Wayanad wildlife safari is being organized by Forest Department in two sessions, in Morning and Evening. To get a ticket for Safari one may have to queue up at 0600 h for the morning session and at 1400 h for evening session. The jungle safari is conducted for almost one and a half hour. Another wildlife sanctuary in Wayanad is at Tholpetty, a small diversion from the road to famous Thirunelli temple. The Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary is rich with many animals like powerful Bison, soft and delicate Deer, naughty Langur, very agile Wild Squirrels, Jungle cats, enormous Elephants and numerous birds. There is one watch tower near the lake from where animals can be watched when they come to the lake for drinking water. A two hour safari by jeep is being arranged by the forest department in two sessions; same as Muthanga.

Good stretch of your journey will be through the forest itself, where you will bump into some wildlife. You can be picked up from Bangalore Airport (BLR) or Railway Station (SBC) by exclusive cab.
