Shivappanaika palace museum: Shimoga, while widely known for its natural beauty and landscapes is also host to a place that is of utmost historical significance- the Shivappanaika palace museum. The palace is constructed using rosewood and dates back to the 16th century. The museum within its premises has a wide collection of stone carvings,inscriptions and sculpture that speak volumes about the Keladi culture and heritage.
Mandagadde bird sanctuary: Located at a distance of 30km from Shimoga, the bird sanctuary is home to various exotic and indigenous species of birds. There is a watchtower within the sanctuary that can be used to view the birds from a great vantage point.
