Bekal Fort: Spread over a vast land of 40 acres, the Bekal Fort is the largest fort in Kerala. Apart from the above, the zigzag puzzle form entrances and trenches bear witness to the ancient Defense strategies adopted during the time. Chandragiri Fort: Spread over seven acres and built during the 15th century, the Chandragiri Fort is known for its large squarish structure. Ananthapura Lake Temple: With a temple in the middle, the Ananthapura Lake Temple is the only lake temple in Kerala. Believed to be the original seat (Moolasthanam) of Lord Ananthapadmanabha Swami (Padmanabhaswamy temple) Thiruvananthapuram, legend has it that this is the original site where Lord Ananthapadmanabha settled down. Tourists and visitors may also get a chance to meet Babia, the guardian crocodile of the cave in the right end corner of the lake.
Madhur Temple: Also known as the Madhanenshwara Temple, Lord Shiva abodes in this holy shrine. The Ganapathy statue found on the walls of the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) was drawn by a priest’s son, while playing. Legend says that as day passed by it became big and fat; so that the boy called Ganapathi as “boddajja” or “bodda ganesha”. Being the greatest temple of Lord Shiva, it is also one of the most famous among the six temples in Tulunadu.
Ranipuram: Famed as the Ooty of Kerala, Ranipuram is a hill station that lies 750 meters above sea level.
